Ogun Pastor Accused of Fathering Church Member’s Child Amid 20-Year Affair

A shocking paternity dispute involving a pastor and a commercial driver in Ogun State has ignited widespread controversy, following revelations of a two-decade-long illicit affair. The conflict, centered around a four-year-old child, came to light when the driver’s teenage son exposed his mother’s relationship with the cleric.

The heated confrontation unfolded at the Cherubim and Seraphim Church, Ona Iye Parish, in Sango-Ota, where Prophet Abiodun John, founder of the church, faced accusations from Badiru Folarin, a commercial driver and husband of Morufat, a church member. Folarin accused the pastor of claiming paternity of his youngest child while maintaining a secret relationship with his wife under the guise of spiritual mentorship.

Folarin disclosed that the affair was exposed by his 14-year-old son, Saheed, who reported that his mother frequently visited the pastor, cooked for him, and hosted him at odd hours. According to Folarin, his wife had been absent from home for long stretches, citing church activities as her excuse. However, Saheed revealed that these absences were often spent at the pastor’s residence.

“Saheed told me that his mother had been with the pastor for days,” Folarin said. “When I confronted her, I found them in a compromising position at the church premises.”

Amid the commotion, Morufat conceded that the child in question was fathered by the pastor but insisted she would not leave her husband. However, her declarations were met with vehement opposition from Folarin, who vowed never to take her back.

Recounting how the affair began, Folarin stated that his wife initially sought spiritual deliverance at the church due to health issues. Over time, her relationship with the pastor grew closer, leading to a romantic affair. He alleged that she used money meant for household expenses to cater to the pastor’s needs.

“She was using my money to cook for her lover,” Folarin lamented. “Even when she was pregnant with our last child, she claimed she needed spiritual protection and stayed at the church for months.”

Prophet Abiodun, when contacted, admitted to the affair and confirmed that he is the biological father of Morufat’s youngest child. He revealed that their relationship spanned over 20 years and began when Morufat approached him for spiritual help. Despite his admission, the pastor stated that he could not marry Morufat due to her past relationships with other men.

“I am not ashamed to say I am the father of her last child,” Prophet Abiodun said. “We had a long-standing relationship, but I cannot marry her because of her history.”

The pastor alleged that Morufat’s husband was never involved in the upbringing of their children and claimed he supported some of the children’s vocational training. He also disclosed that his relationship with Morufat led to the breakdown of his marriage three years ago.

The scandal has left the Folarin family in turmoil, with Saheed claiming that his mother threatened to poison him for exposing her affair. Meanwhile, Folarin has appealed for public support, fearing for his safety as tensions with the pastor escalate.

“This pastor has vowed to deal with me,” Folarin said. “I need Nigerians to save me from him.”
