NYSC Member Kidnapped on Benin-Ibadan Route as Abductors Demand N20 Million Ransom

A member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Lawal Rofiat Kofoworola, has been reportedly kidnapped while traveling from Benin, Edo State, to Ibadan, Oyo State, to resume at her Place of Primary Assignment (PPA) in Ogbomoso. The incident occurred on Tuesday when she boarded a bus headed towards Ore.

According to reports, her abductors have since contacted her family, demanding a ransom of N20 million. A close friend of the victim, identified as Agbakwara, took to Facebook to raise the alarm, expressing distress over the situation. He described Kofoworola as someone who had struggled to support herself through university by working at Dufil company in Benin and emphasized that her parents could not afford the ransom.

Agbakwara stated that a report had been made to the NYSC Secretariat in Ibadan, providing Kofoworola’s call-up number, but there had been no official response. He pleaded for assistance from Nigerians, urging authorities and the public to help secure her release.

When contacted, NYSC spokesperson Caroline Embu requested details of the incident to confirm the situation. There has been no further official statement from the NYSC or security agencies regarding efforts to rescue the kidnapped corps member.
