NSCDC Officer Stabbed to Death in Front of Her Home in Abuja
A female officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), identified as Blessing Akpan, was tragically stabbed to death by unknown assailants in front of her residence in Piawe, Bwari Area Council of Abuja.
The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of Tuesday last week. Akpan was attacked by suspected robbers who allegedly attempted to steal her belongings and stabbed her during the struggle. She was rushed to several hospitals following the attack but was allegedly denied immediate treatment due to the absence of a police report.
Medical personnel at Bwari General Hospital later confirmed her dead.
Friends of the deceased, speaking to *Daily Trust* on Monday, July 28, expressed frustration over what they described as a broken system. One of them, who preferred to remain anonymous, said Blessing might have survived if she had received prompt medical attention. According to her, despite presenting the victim’s NSCDC identification card at multiple hospitals, staff still demanded a police report before administering treatment.
“It is painful that we lost officer Blessing due to a weak and uncoordinated system. Someone was dying, and they insisted on a police report. Honestly, this is very sad,” the friend said.
Another friend explained that the attack appeared to be a robbery attempt, stating that Akpan was on her way out when the assailants confronted her and stabbed her in the process.
