Nollywood Mourns the Passing of Renowned Actor Dejumo Lewis at 80
Nollywood is grieving the loss of one of its iconic actors, Dejumo Lewis, who has passed away at the age of 80.
The late thespian, predominantly recognized for his impactful roles in Yoruba movies, left an indelible mark on the Nigerian film industry. His demise was confirmed by fellow actor Saidi Balogun, who shared the news on Instagram, bidding farewell with the poignant words, “Good night DEJUMO LEWIS, may your soul rest in perfect peace.”
Dejumo Lewis earned acclaim for his diverse roles, including memorable performances in films such as “A Place in the Stars,” “Crossroads,” and “Power of 1.” However, it was his portrayal of the Kabiyesi character in the legendary series ‘The Village Headmaster’ that solidified his status as a stalwart in the world of Nigerian cinema.
As news of his passing spread, fellow actors and colleagues took to social media to express their condolences and share memories of the late actor. The cause of Dejumo Lewis’s death is yet to be officially confirmed.
