No Region Playing Second Fiddle or Ignored Under Tinubu’s Govt — FG

The federal government has dismissed suggestions that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is favouring certain parts of the country over others in the distribution of projects and appointments. Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, said on Sunday that the administration remains committed to equity, fairness, and justice in governance.

Idris explained that claims of preferential treatment were unfounded, stressing that Tinubu’s government has taken deliberate steps to ensure balanced development across all six geopolitical zones. He pointed to major ongoing projects such as the Lagos–Coastal Highway in the South and the Badagry–Sokoto Highway, which cuts across the North, as evidence of inclusivity in infrastructural planning.

“The distribution of capital projects under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is equitable. No region is playing a second fiddle or ignored,” the minister stated. He noted that in addition to projects undertaken by ministries, departments, and agencies, new regional development commissions have been established to accelerate growth in every zone.

While acknowledging Lagos as Nigeria’s commercial hub, Idris said that the North-West currently has the largest share of project approvals, underscoring the administration’s balanced approach. He added that the president’s appointments reflect competence and inclusivity, not sectional bias, with capable Nigerians from all regions given opportunities to serve.

Describing Tinubu as a reformer with a unifying vision, Idris assured Nigerians that the government would continue to promote equity and justice nationwide. “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has not only kept faith with Nigerians but has proven himself to be a fair, pragmatic, and consequential reformer. His leadership is inclusive, his vision is unifying, and his commitment to equity and justice is unwavering. Nigerians can rest assured that under his watch, no part of this country will be left behind,” he said.
