No Going Back on Reforms Despite Challenges, Tinubu Assures Investors
President Bola Tinubu has emphasized his unwavering commitment to economic reforms aimed at fostering business growth and creating investment opportunities in Nigeria. During a meeting with a delegation from the Corporate Council on Africa (CCA) led by Florizelle Liser, CCA’s President and CEO, at the Aso Rock villa in Abuja, President Tinubu addressed the challenges faced and underscored his determination to press ahead.
“We are challenged, and we believe we will overcome the challenges. I have a can-do attitude that must be translated into a must-do attitude. We have a good team, and we must remain focused to get the goal accomplished,” stated President Tinubu.
Despite acknowledging the existing headwinds, President Tinubu asserted, “We are right in the middle of a challenging stage of our reforms. We have headwinds, no doubt, but we are not going back,” emphasizing his commitment to Nigeria’s economic growth and stability.
The President reiterated his dedication to creating an enabling environment for business, focusing on key sectors such as agriculture, solid minerals, energy, health, infrastructure, trade, financial services, digital enterprise, and the creative economy. He emphasized that these efforts aim to ensure the welfare and prosperity of Nigerian citizens.
President Tinubu commended the recent landing of a 45,000-kilometre submarine fiber optic cable in Akwa Ibom State, connecting the South-South region with Europe and other parts of Africa. He highlighted the importance of this development, expressing confidence that, with the right policies and partnerships, Nigeria can overcome longstanding developmental challenges.
Drawing on his past experience as the governor of Lagos State and interactions with the CCA, President Tinubu lauded the Council’s commitment to fostering business connections between the United States and Africa. He stated, “We are going to do more on security and investing in education, as we believe that education is the greatest weapon against poverty.”
In response, Florizelle Liser, CCA’s President and CEO, expressed the Council’s dedication to supporting Nigeria’s economic growth across the eight priority areas outlined by President Tinubu’s administration. She invited President Tinubu to participate in CCA’s US-Africa Business Summit in May in Dallas, Texas, emphasizing CCA’s role as a valuable partner in enhancing USA-Nigeria trade, business, and investment.
