NNPP Suspends Four Federal Lawmakers Over Anti-Party Activities

The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Kano has suspended Senator Sumaila Kawu, representing Kano South Senatorial District, along with three other lawmakers over alleged anti-party activities. The decision, announced on Monday at the party secretariat in Kano, also affects Kabiru Alhassan Rurum (Rano/Kibiya Federal Constituency), Ali Madakin Gini (Dala Federal Constituency), and Sani Abdullahi Rogo (Rogo/Karaye Federal Constituency).

Party chairman Hashimu Dungurawa stated that the suspension was due to the lawmakers’ actions, which he claimed contradicted the party’s interests, norms, and values. He further accused them of disloyalty, stating that after securing their positions with the party’s support, they had begun working against its principles. He cited a recent event where Senator Kawu Sumaila commissioned projects without inviting NNPP representatives, while prominent All Progressives Congress (APC) figures, including National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje and Deputy Senate President Senator Barau Jibrin, were present.

This development follows remarks made by Ganduje over the weekend in Kano, suggesting that plans were in motion to welcome NNPP legislators into the APC.
