NNPP Is Dead, Kwankwaso Will Return to APC – Ganduje
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has declared that the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) is no longer relevant, describing it as “dead,” and expressed confidence that its 2023 presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, will soon return to the ruling party.
Ganduje made these remarks on Tuesday during a visit by the Tinubu Support Group to the APC national secretariat in Abuja. Speaking to the group, he emphasized the APC’s readiness to welcome back former members and other politicians seeking to return.
“We have been receiving prominent politicians and lawmakers from all over the country. We are ready to welcome anyone who wants to return to the party,” he said.
Addressing the state of the NNPP, Ganduje stated that the party has lost momentum and is near collapse. “The NNPP is dead. And it will soon be buried very, very soon. I’m hoping that where we will put the dead body, the coffin has already been constructed. What remains now is to dig the grave. And already they are digging the grave very, very soon,” he remarked.
He went on to suggest that Kwankwaso, a former governor of Kano State and leader of the NNPP, is considering a return to the APC. “Even like that, the so-called NNPP national leader, he too, he says after losing everyone, he wants to come back to us, we will welcome him, because he’s coming back home,” Ganduje added.
Ganduje also dismissed opposition efforts to build a coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections, asserting that such alliances will fall apart and key figures will eventually return to the APC.
