“Nnamdi Kanu Ordered Soldiers Killed, Lagos Burnt Down” – Reno Omokri Alleges
Reno Omokri, former presidential aide and prominent social commentator, has accused Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), of orchestrating a wave of violence that led to the deaths of over 50 soldiers, 24 policemen, and numerous civilians in Nigeria’s Southeast region. Speaking during an interview on Channels Television on Wednesday, Omokri made the claims while responding to comments by Peter Obi, former governor of Anambra State, who questioned the validity of Kanu’s ongoing trial.
Omokri alleged that he possesses video evidence showing Kanu directing his supporters to commit the acts, including an order to burn down Lagos State. According to Omokri, the video contains explicit instructions from the IPOB leader encouraging violence against security forces and civilians.
“Peter Obi said the trial of Nnamdi Kanu does not make sense,” Omokri stated during the interview. “Listen, I have a video which we cannot play here because of BBC. You heard him telling his supporters to kill soldiers and burn down Lagos.”
Omokri further claimed that the aftermath of Kanu’s directives was devastating, including the killing and beheading of an army couple in Imo State, and the shutdown of 160 police stations across the Southeast following attacks allegedly carried out by IPOB, unknown gunmen, and the Eastern Security Network (ESN).
He criticized Peter Obi for allegedly failing to condemn the violence and questioned the logic of dismissing Kanu’s trial given the scale of destruction and loss of life. “How can you say the trial of a person who killed these people does not make sense?” Omokri asked.
