Nigerians travelling should not hug their loved ones or say goodbye at airport terminals – Aviation Minister Hadi Sirika
Nigeria’s aviation minister Hadi Sirika talked down on Nigerians yesterday during an interview with Ladi Akeredolu-Ale on Channels TV
Sirika said “The population of Nigeria about 200 million people and the landmass with dilapidated infrastructure especially roads support aviation businesses and air transportation in Nigeria. The local airlines must not be lazy; they should get up and develop the routes.”
He also said Nigerian act irresponsibly when they drop off their loved ones at the airport, causing traffic and advised that they should not only pack their luggage carefully so that they can offload in a short time, he said they should not hug or kiss their loved ones goodbye. He suggested they just drop them off, quickly remove their luggage from the vehicle and drive off in 30 seconds to prevent traffic build up.
He spoke about how Nigerians would gladly walk miles at heathrow terminals 1 and 2 but would not want to do the same in Nigerian airports. This is rather strange as family are not usually allowed in airport terminals in Nigeria so it make it impossible to properly see someone off.
