Nigerian Man Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison for Drug Trafficking in India
A Nigerian national, Ifechukwu David Madukwe, has been sentenced to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment by a Mapusa court in Goa for drug trafficking offenses.
Madukwe was arrested on December 31, 2019, at Manshiwada-Korgao, Pernem, Goa, after authorities found him in possession of narcotic drugs valued at Rs 50.9 lakh. His arrest was made under various sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act of 1985.
Following a trial, the court found Madukwe guilty and handed down the sentence on Tuesday, February 18, 2025. In addition to his prison term, further legal consequences under Indian law may apply.
