Nigerian High Court Judge, Family, Aides Abducted by Boko Haram in Borno
Suspected Boko Haram terrorists have abducted a Nigerian High Court Judge, Justice Haruna Mshelia, along with his wife, driver, and security escort. The abduction occurred on the Biu to Maiduguri road in Borno State.
Justice Mshelia and his entourage were traveling in his vehicle when the incident took place. According to local sources, including regional expert Zagazola Makama, the judge’s vehicle was ambushed near a curve between Burutai and Buni-Gari.
“As they approached a curve in the road between Burutai and Buni-Gari, a group of armed men emerged from the bushes, their weapons blazing and barricaded the road,” Makama reported. “The judge’s vehicle screeched to a halt and attempted to escape, but was intercepted by another group of insurgents.”
The terrorists took Justice Mshelia, his wife, and his aides hostage, and later transported them into the dense Sambisa Forest, a known stronghold for Boko Haram activities.
Authorities are yet to release an official statement, but efforts are reportedly underway to secure their release.
