Nigerian Artists Create History with Multiple Grammy Nominations

In a groundbreaking achievement, Nigerian musicians Burna Boy, Olamide, and Ayra Starr have shattered records in the music industry with their multiple nominations for the 66th Grammy Awards.

Burna Boy, in a momentous stride, clinched four nominations, making him the most nominated Nigerian artist in Grammy history, with a total tally of 10 nominations. Notably, his track ‘Sittin’ On Top of The World’ marks the first African song to be nominated in the Rap category for Best Melodic Rap Performance.

Olamide secured his place in history as the first Nigerian rapper to earn a Grammy nomination, in collaboration with Asake for ‘Amapiano’ in the newly introduced Best African Music Performance category.

At just 21, Ayra Starr became the youngest Nigerian to receive a Grammy nomination, with her single ‘Rush’ nominated in the same Best African Music Performance category. The nominations reflect a remarkable moment for Nigerian talent and mark a significant step forward in the global recognition of African music.
