Nigerian Air Force Bombards Terrorist Enclave in North East
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says it destroyed terrorist hideouts in Ali Sheriffti, a known insurgent enclave in the southern Tumbuns of northeastern Nigeria, during an air operation conducted on April 24.
In a statement, NAF spokesperson Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame said the strikes followed credible intelligence on terrorist activity in the area. According to him, air assets carried out surveillance and tracked suspected insurgents moving along concealed routes to structures hidden under dense vegetation.
After confirming the targets, the Air Force launched precision strikes on the identified positions, destroying the structures, Ejodame said.
He described the operation as part of ongoing efforts to weaken terrorist capabilities and limit their movement across the region.
“The operation achieved the desired effect, with terrorist structures destroyed, further degrading their capability and freedom of movement in the area,” he said.
Ejodame said the strikes reflect the Air Force’s continued reliance on intelligence-led operations to deny insurgents safe havens.
He added that the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, reaffirmed the military’s commitment to sustained operations against terrorist networks.
According to the statement, air operations in the North East will continue with increased intensity as part of broader efforts to improve security and protect civilians.
