Nigeria Set for AFCON Final Clash: Sanusi Returns to Starting XI as Chukwueze Steps In
In the buildup to the highly anticipated Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final against Cote d’Ivoire, Jose Peseiro, the head coach of the Super Eagles, has revealed the starting XI with two notable changes from their semi-final triumph over South Africa.
Moses Simon of Nantes has been omitted from the starting lineup, making way for AC Milan’s Samuel Chukwueze, as Peseiro puts his faith in the Italian-based forward.
Goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali will be guarded by a robust back three consisting of William Troost-Ekong, Calvin Bassey, and Semi Ajayi.
In the midfield, Alex Iwobi will anchor, orchestrating the game alongside Frank ‘The Tank’ Onyeka.
Leading the charge on the attacking front are Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman, both plying their trade in Italy.
The returning Zaidu Sanusi will replace Bright Osayi Samuel, while Ola Aina takes charge on the opposite wing back position.
The match is scheduled to kick off at 9 pm Nigerian time.
