“Nigeria Has Finally Happened to Me”: Woman Laments After She and Other Tenants Were Thrown Out of Apartment After Landlord Collected Rent While His Brother Sold the House

A Nigerian woman has shared her experience online after she and several other tenants were forced out of their apartment following a dispute between their landlord and his brother over ownership of the property.

The woman, identified on TikTok as MarthyCee, posted a video showing her belongings scattered outside the building shortly after the incident. According to her account, the eviction happened less than two weeks after she renewed her rent.

She alleged that the landlord collected rent from tenants despite being involved in an ongoing legal dispute with his brother, who had reportedly already sold the same property to another party.

In the video, the tenants’ belongings can be seen piled outside the building after individuals allegedly broke open the doors and removed items from the rooms.

MarthyCee claimed that many of the affected residents are students who were unable to resist the eviction. She also said the tenants have not received refunds for the rent they recently paid.

“Less than two weeks after paying my rent, this happened,” she wrote in the caption accompanying the video. “The house was sold by one brother while the landlord we knew was still collecting rent from us.”
