The renowned playwright and activist, born on July 13, 1934, shared candidly about his longevity, admitting, “I never knew I would live to be 90.” Soyinka recounted that his journey as a writer was driven by a desire to correct misconceptions he encountered in his youth.
The event, graced by Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, also highlighted educational achievements, with scholarships and laptops awarded to top performers in an essay contest marking Soyinka’s birthday.
