Ned Nwoko Reacts to Regina Daniels’ Alleged Sobriety
The legal and communications team of Senator Ned Nwoko has responded to recent claims circulating online regarding the alleged sobriety of actress Regina Daniels, stating that temporary abstinence should not be presented as proof of recovery or absence of prior substance use.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the team said earlier allegations of drug and alcohol use were based on professional evaluations conducted by independent and reputable medical centres in Nigeria and South Africa. According to the statement, the assessments were formally documented and are expected to be tendered in court, with the centres involved to be subpoenaed as witnesses.
The team described attempts to rely on a recent negative test result as evidence that no prior substance use occurred as “misleading and disingenuous,” noting that short-term abstinence does not negate previous medical findings or the need for intervention identified at the time.
The statement also cautioned against downplaying the risks associated with substances such as MDMA, stressing that their harmful effects remain unchanged despite casual references or rebranding in social media discussions.
Senator Nwoko’s team further said the senator supported Daniels through structured and professional therapy, arguing that recovery and accountability require sustained medical and psychological engagement rather than isolated or public-facing actions.
They urged that any allegations or grievances be pursued through appropriate legal channels and supported by verifiable and admissible evidence.
“Genuine accountability requires confronting reality and committing to long-term professional support,” the statement said, adding that conclusions should be based on credible documentation rather than online narratives.
The statement concluded by reiterating that the senator facilitated discreet access to therapy to support Daniels’ wellbeing and her relationship with her children, while dismissing claims of human rights violations as unfounded.
