Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Disowns Viral Tape Alleging Blackmail of President Tinubu
Suspended senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has firmly denied any involvement in a viral audio and video that surfaced online alleging she claimed Senate President Godswill Akpabio blackmailed President Bola Tinubu to have her imprisoned.
In a statement personally signed and released in Abuja on Wednesday, Akpoti-Uduaghan dissociated herself from the recordings, describing them as false, manipulated, and malicious. She urged the public to disregard the materials in their entirety.
“I categorically and unequivocally dissociate myself from this video and audio recording. At no time did I grant such an interview or hold any such conversation with a journalist or anyone else,” she stated. “The voice in the recording is not mine — it has been cloned and manipulated with clear malicious intent.”
She described the materials as part of a calculated campaign to spread misinformation, smear her image, and destabilise the leadership of both the National Assembly and the Federal Government. According to her, the recordings represent a dangerous abuse of technology aimed at misleading the public and creating division.
Akpoti-Uduaghan reaffirmed her commitment to truth, justice, and democratic principles. She also revealed that her legal team and relevant security agencies have been tasked with investigating the origin of the recordings and bringing those responsible to justice.
Calling for public vigilance, she added, “This is the work of desperate individuals intent on smearing the image of a law-abiding, peace-loving public servant. I remain steadfast in my service to the people and urge Nigerians to remain vigilant against coordinated campaigns of disinformation and digital impersonation aimed at creating unnecessary political tension.”
