Naira Strengthens Officially, Falls in Black Market
The Naira experienced a decline in value on the parallel market, trading at N1,660 per dollar yesterday, down from N1,655 per dollar on Monday.
In contrast, the official foreign exchange market recorded a slight appreciation in the Naira, with the exchange rate improving to N1,549 per dollar, compared to N1,550 per dollar the previous day.
Data from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) revealed the Naira gained N1 in the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM). This shift widened the disparity between the parallel market and the official exchange rate to N111 per dollar, compared to N105 per dollar on Monday.
