Naira Strengthens Against US Dollar at Official Market
The Naira started the week with a notable gain against the US dollar at Nigeria’s official foreign exchange market.
Data from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) showed that on Monday, the Naira traded at N1,418.95 per dollar, improving from N1,421.63 recorded on Friday, 23 January 2026. This represents a gain of N2.68 within the period under review.
In contrast, the black market rate remained unchanged at N1,490 per dollar, the same level recorded last Friday.
The currency’s performance follows reports that Nigeria’s foreign reserves stood at $46.01 billion as of last Thursday.
