Naira Rebounds After Recent Depreciation Against Dollar
The naira recorded its first appreciation against the US dollar on Tuesday, gaining strength in both the official and parallel foreign exchange markets. According to the Central Bank of Nigeria, the currency traded at N1,445.39 per dollar, up from N1,448.44 on Monday, marking a day-on-day gain of N3.05.
Tuesday’s increase at the official market was the first since November 26, 2025. In the parallel market, the naira also rose by N5, closing at N1,470 per dollar compared with N1,475 the previous day, as reported by several Bureau de Change operators in Wuse Zone 4, Abuja.
The positive movement coincides with a further rise in Nigeria’s foreign reserves, which reached $44.67 billion as of November 28. This follows Monday’s depreciation of the naira against the dollar across the foreign exchange markets.
