Naira Extends Gains Against Dollar at Official Market
The naira continued its upward trend against the US dollar at the official foreign exchange market on Thursday, according to data from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Figures published on the apex bank’s official website show the naira closing at ₦1,534.52 per dollar, a slight improvement from Wednesday’s ₦1,534.83. This reflects a marginal day-on-day gain of 0.3.
In the parallel market, the naira held steady at ₦1,565 per dollar, unchanged from the previous session.
The currency had also recorded gains in both the official and black markets on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the CBN has reiterated its call for Nigerians to desist from spraying, hawking, mutilating, or counterfeiting the naira, a caution delivered in a recent statement by its spokesperson, Hakama Sidi Ali.
