Naira Ends Week on a Low Note Against Dollar
In a downturn to conclude the week, the naira depreciated against the dollar on Friday at the official foreign exchange market. Data from the FMDQ revealed that the naira fell to N1,579.89 per dollar, down from N1,564.40 on Tuesday, marking a N15.41 decrease.
Conversely, the black market rate remained stable at N1,600 per dollar, unchanged from the previous day.
This decline follows a significant appreciation of the naira observed on Thursday. Over the week, the naira experienced volatility against the dollar, influenced by the Central Bank of Nigeria’s introduction of the Retail Dutch Auction System.
