Naira Begins July with Slight Gain Against Dollar
The naira opened July on a positive note, strengthening slightly against the US dollar at the official foreign exchange market on Tuesday. Data from the Central Bank of Nigeria showed that the naira appreciated to N1,529.57 per dollar, up from N1,529.71 recorded on Monday, reflecting a modest gain of 14 kobo.
In the parallel market, however, the naira held steady, maintaining an exchange rate of N1,570 per dollar for the second consecutive day. The slight appreciation at the official window and the stability in the black market indicate a relatively stable start to the new month, following June’s closing rates of N1,529.71 and N1,570 at the official and unofficial markets respectively.
