Naira Appreciates Slightly Against Dollar After Days of Decline
The naira recorded its first gain of the week on Thursday, showing slight appreciation against the dollar in both the official and parallel foreign exchange markets.
According to data from the Central Bank of Nigeria, the naira strengthened to N1,534.79 per dollar, up from N1,535.62 on Wednesday—marking a marginal gain of N0.83. In the black market, the currency also improved, trading at N1,535 per dollar, a N5 increase from the N1,540 rate that had held steady earlier in the week.
This marks the first positive movement for the naira in both markets since Friday, July 18, 2025. From Monday to Wednesday, the naira had depreciated in the official market while holding flat in the parallel market.
