“My Passport Is Intact” – Nigerian Man Clarifies Viral Passport Incident at Lagos Airport Was a Prank, Apologizes to Immigration
The Nigerian man whose passport was allegedly torn by his wife at Lagos’s Murtala Muhammed International Airport has revealed that the incident was nothing more than a skit.
The incident, initially investigated by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), quickly went viral, with a video showing the man’s wife, identified as Mrs. Favour Igiebor, admitting to destroying her husband’s passport. The NIS was alerted to the situation and had begun a formal inquiry.
However, in a recent video posted on his family’s TikTok page, Jejola Family TV, the man clarified that the passport shown in the skit was merely a copy and that his actual passport remained unharmed. He urged media outlets and bloggers to stop vilifying his wife, stating, “My real passport is intact and has been verified by immigration authorities.”
The couple also issued an apology to the NIS for any confusion the skit may have caused, emphasizing their respect for the country’s laws. The man reiterated, “To the immigration of Nigeria, we say sorry. We can’t defy the laws of Nigeria. We are bona fide Nigerians, and we can’t go against the laws by destroying the passport of Nigeria.”
The NIS has yet to respond to this latest development, but the incident has sparked conversations about the potential consequences of such pranks and the importance of upholding the law.
