“My Husband Is Sleeping With an Older Woman Because She Gives Him Money” – Divorce-Seeking Woman Tells Court

A woman, Omotilewa, has approached the Grade A Customary Court in Mapo, Ibadan, seeking the dissolution of her marriage to her husband, Ifedayo, over allegations of infidelity and neglect.

Omotilewa told the court that Ifedayo abandoned his responsibilities as a husband and father, frequently traveling for days without providing for the family. Even when he was around, she claimed, he rarely stayed at home.

She further revealed that Ifedayo was in a relationship with an older woman whom he referred to as his business partner. According to her, this woman often lent him money, and he regularly took her to hotels, where they spent nights together.

Frustrated by the situation, Omotilewa confronted the woman, who openly admitted to the affair and vowed not to leave Ifedayo. To her dismay, her husband also refused to end the relationship, further neglecting his family.

Omotilewa eventually moved out with their children, but she alleged that Ifedayo continued to threaten her, frequently showing up at her home and shop to harass her.

She pleaded with the court to grant her custody of their children while ensuring that her husband remains financially responsible for their upkeep. She also requested a restraining order to prevent him from interfering in her life.

Despite being served court summonses, Ifedayo was absent from the hearing. The court’s president, Mrs. S.M. Akintayo, adjourned the case and ordered a fresh hearing notice to be issued to the defendant.
