More Facts Emerge As Police Parade UNIPORT Student Arrested for Girlfriend’s Murder, Organ Harvesting
Port Harcourt, Rivers State – In a horrifying turn of events, the Rivers State Police have arrested a 400-level student of Petrochemical Engineering at the University of Port Harcourt, Demain Okoligwe, for allegedly murdering his girlfriend, Justina Otuene, a 300-level Biochemistry undergraduate at UNIPORT, and harvesting her organs. The grim discovery took place at Okoligwe’s residence along NTA Road, Ozuoba, near Port Harcourt.
Commissioner of Police Emeka Nwonyi made this shocking revelation while addressing the media in Port Harcourt on Thursday. According to Nwonyi, the suspect, in a gruesome act, reportedly butchered his girlfriend, then harvested parts of her body for suspected ritual purposes. The decomposing remains of Justina Otuene were concealed in his apartment for several days.
The alarm was raised by a concerned neighbor who detected a pungent odor emanating from Okoligwe’s apartment. This neighbour promptly reported the matter to the police, leading to a swift response from the Ozuoba Division.
“On Wednesday, around 3.30pm, operatives of Ozuoba Division received a complaint from a good Samaritan of Road 20, back of NTA Ozuoba that he went to his house where one Demain Okoligwe, a fellow tenant, perceived a very bad odor and immediately rushed to the police station, where the DPO led detectives to the scene,” stated Nwonyi.
Upon their arrival, law enforcement officers forcefully entered the suspect’s apartment and discovered a large bag containing the lifeless body of Justina Otuene. The prime suspect, Demain Okoligwe, a 24-year-old 400-level student at UNIPORT, was subsequently apprehended for further investigation.
The tragic victim, a 20-year-old 300-level student of Biochemistry at UNIPORT, had been last seen with Okoligwe. Her body, which had been cruelly mutilated, was recovered and later transferred to the mortuary.
A preliminary investigation is currently underway, and the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department for a more in-depth inquiry.
Commissioner of Police Emeka Nwonyi took the opportunity to urge parents to have conversations with their children about the importance of selecting friends wisely to avoid falling victim to wicked and dangerous individuals. This gruesome incident serves as a grim reminder of the importance of safety and vigilance in today’s society.
