Fubara Hails UNIPORT Honourary Degree On Wike, Calls It “Well-Deserved”

Suspended Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has praised the conferment of an honorary doctorate degree on Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, by the University of Port Harcourt, calling the recognition both timely and well-deserved.

In a statement issued on Saturday and signed on behalf of his family and the people of Rivers State, Fubara congratulated his predecessor on receiving the Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) Honoris Causa during UNIPORT’s 35th Convocation Ceremony and 50th Anniversary celebration. He described Wike as a transformational and visionary leader whose impact on governance and development continues to shape the future of Nigeria.

“This distinguished recognition is not only a celebration of your illustrious accomplishments,” Fubara said, “but a testament to your contributions to education, governance, and the betterment of society.” He commended Wike’s service as a two-term governor and now a federal minister, noting that his work has uplifted countless lives and rekindled public confidence in leadership.

Fubara added that it was only fitting for Wike’s alma mater to honour him for his enduring commitment and strategic role in national development. He expressed pride in Wike’s achievement and extended warm congratulations, wishing him continued success in the years to come.
