Mohamed Salah to Leave Liverpool at End of 2025/26 Season After Mutual Agreement

 

Liverpool have confirmed that Mohamed Salah will depart the club at the end of the 2025/26 season, bringing to a close his nine-year spell at Anfield.

 

The club said the decision follows a mutual agreement to end his contract early. Salah had signed a two-year extension in 2025 that was originally set to run until 2027, but both parties have now opted to part ways ahead of schedule amid a strained relationship with head coach Arne Slot.

 

According to the club’s statement released on Tuesday, Salah requested that the announcement be made early in order to provide clarity to supporters.

 

Salah joined Liverpool from AS Roma in the summer of 2017. Since then, he has made 435 appearances and scored 255 goals for the club. His tenure includes major honours such as the Premier League title, the UEFA Champions League, the FIFA Club World Cup, the UEFA Super Cup, the FA Cup, and two EFL Cup trophies.

 

In his farewell message, the 33-year-old reflected on his time at the club, describing Liverpool as more than a football team and acknowledging the connection he built with teammates and supporters over the years. He also expressed appreciation for the backing he received throughout his stay, including during difficult periods.
