Minimum Wage: President Tinubu to Attend Crucial NEC Meeting Today
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to join state governors at today’s National Economic Council (NEC) meeting to deliberate on the new national minimum wage. This information was revealed by the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, late last night.
The NEC, chaired by the Vice President, includes the 36 state governors, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and other key federal officials.
Speaking in Kano, where he led a presidential delegation to extend condolences to Vice President Kashim Shettima over the passing of his mother-in-law, Gbajabiamila highlighted the significance of the President’s attendance at the NEC meeting.
He noted: “President Tinubu is deeply saddened by recent events and wished he could be here with you. Our President is known for his extensive engagements, but the importance of today’s NEC meeting necessitates his presence in Abuja. This marks one of the rare occasions he attends, possibly his first.”
