Military Kills 43 Terrorists, Apprehends 115 others – DHQ
The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has reported a significant victory in its ongoing campaign against terrorism, announcing the neutralization of 43 terrorists and the arrest of 115 individuals involved in various operations over the past week.
Major General Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, issued a statement on Friday highlighting the military’s unwavering focus on eliminating insurgents and combating criminal activities across the country. He emphasized that troops are actively pursuing terrorists in their hiding places and executing targeted offensives to dismantle their operations.
The week’s operations involved a variety of strategic maneuvers, including ambushes, raids, fighting patrols, and other offensive actions. These efforts resulted in the neutralization of 43 terrorists and the arrest of 115 others. Troops seized an arsenal of 87 assorted weapons and 666 ammunition, including AK-47 rifles, FN rifles, pump action guns, locally fabricated guns, dane guns, pistols, SMGs, and various explosives.
In addition to the successes against terrorism, the military also made strides in addressing other criminal activities. Seventeen perpetrators of oil theft were apprehended, and 39 kidnapped hostages were rescued in the South-South region. The troops thwarted oil theft amounting to an estimated N159.6 million, while destroying illegal refining sites, dugout pits, boats, storage tanks, vehicles, and other equipment associated with criminal operations.
Major General Buba reassured the public of the military’s commitment to defeating terrorists on the battlefield and in their hideouts. He urged citizens to act responsibly, emphasizing their role as partners in creating conditions that accelerate victory.
As the nation celebrates these successes, the Defence Headquarters calls on the public to remain vigilant and supportive in the collective effort to restore peace and security to the country.
