Messi Is Highest Paid Sportsperson, Earns £2.4m a week

Lionel Messi is the highest paid sportsperson in the world. This was revealed after his contract was leaked.

Messi’s 4 year contract with current club, Barcelona is worth £492m.

This means that the worlds best footballer earns £123m per year.

This astronomical figure also has a £69m loyalty bonus and a £102m renewal fee.

His current contract expires on the 24th of November 2021.

Barcelona said in a statement that they “regret” the publication of Messi’s contract, adding:

“FC Barcelona categorically denies any responsibility for the publication of this document, and will take appropriate legal action against the newspaper El Mundo, for any damage that may be caused as a result of this publication.

“FC Barcelona expresses its absolute support for Lionel Messi, especially in the face of any attempt to discredit his image, and to damage his relationship with the entity where he has worked to become the best player in the world and in football history.”
