“Men Should Stop Marrying Broke Women,” Says Kingsley Okonkwo
Kingsley Okonkwo, lead pastor of David’s Christian Centre, has advised men to raise their standards in relationships and avoid marrying women who are financially dependent.
In a series of social media posts, the relationship coach argued that many men are losing interest in marriage because they increasingly see it as a financial burden rather than a partnership.
According to him, men should reconsider relationships where they are expected to carry the full financial responsibility.
“Men, it’s high time we start having standards as well,” Okonkwo wrote. “You guys are too used to women who are liabilities, that’s why less and less men desire marriage. They see it as a burden.”
He said men should prioritise partners who are financially responsible and able to contribute to the relationship, rather than depend entirely on their spouses.
Okonkwo also criticised what he described as a trend where some women focus on marrying wealthy men instead of building financial stability themselves. He argued that the expectation for men to shoulder all financial obligations is harmful and inconsistent with biblical principles.
“The current system is not only unbiblical but also damaging society,” he said, adding that men should also insist on partners who are willing to work and contribute.
The pastor further warned against men deliberately seeking financially vulnerable women as a way to gain control in relationships. According to him, such dynamics often stem from fragile egos and ultimately harm both partners.
“All humans have value and abilities; let them develop it,” he said.
