Many Nigerian Government Officials Willing to Work for Free If………….. – Yakubu Dogara
Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has stated that numerous Nigerian government officials are willing to serve without financial compensation if public expectations were adjusted.
During an interview on Channels Television on Friday, Dogara dispelled the common belief that most politicians are driven by personal financial gain. He emphasized that many officials would gladly offer their services without pay if the demands placed on them were significantly reduced.
“If we can cut the demands on some of these our government officials by 90 per cent, I assure you that there are so many people willing to work free of charge,” Dogara remarked during the programme. He further highlighted the overwhelming pressures government officials face, comparing it to trying to balance heavy burdens with limited support.
In addition to this, Dogara shared details of a recent meeting between former leaders of the National Assembly and President Bola Tinubu at Aso Rock. According to Dogara, the discussion centered on the economic hardships and widespread hunger affecting the country. He noted that President Tinubu acknowledged the challenges and assured them that efforts were underway to alleviate the nation’s difficulties.
