Many Feared Dead as Trailer Crashes Into Crowd in Ibadan
Several people are feared dead and many others injured after a trailer lost control and rammed into vehicles and pedestrians in Ibadan on Tuesday.
The accident occurred around the Beere axis after the truck, reportedly descending from Beere Roundabout, suffered a suspected brake failure. Witnesses said the vehicle had earlier passed through the Oja’Oba Market area before veering off course at Beere Junction.
The trailer struck multiple vehicles, tricycles and passersby along the route. The worst impact was recorded at Iso-Osan Market, widely known as Orange Market, a densely populated commercial area.
Casualty figures remain uncertain. Initial reports confirm at least three deaths, while emergency workers say the number could increase as rescue efforts continue.
Injured victims were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment, and the bodies of those confirmed dead have been moved to a morgue.
Security personnel and emergency responders were deployed to the scene to control crowds and coordinate rescue operations.
