“Many APGA Stakeholders Working Underground for Ukachukwu’s Victory” — APC Alleges

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused members of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) of secretly supporting the joint political ambition of Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu and Senator Uche Ekwunife ahead of the 2025 Anambra governorship election.

Former APGA stalwart and now APC member, Professor Theodore Okonkwo, made the allegation in an interview with *The Nation*. Okonkwo, a Professor of Law specialising in Environmental, Climate Change, Biodiversity, and Maritime Law, hails from Ezenaja Village in Oraukwu, Idemili North Local Government Area. He revealed that he left APGA after more than a decade in the party, citing loss of integrity and internal decay.

According to him, APGA has deviated from its founding principles of unity and fairness. “The truth is that APGA has been hijacked. Their slogan, *Onye Aghana Nwanneya* (Be Your Brother’s Keeper), no longer holds. The party is now filled with injustice, fake promises, and a broken reward system,” he said.

Okonkwo alleged that despite public loyalty to APGA, many of its influential members are quietly mobilising support for Ukachukwu’s anticipated victory. “Many stakeholders in APGA have sympathy for Ukachukwu. They are working underground but can’t say it openly,” he stated.

Speaking on his defection to the APC, Okonkwo described it as a divinely guided move rather than one motivated by political gain. “It was not about inducement or persuasion. It was a spiritual revelation,” he said.

He also criticised the administration of Governor Charles Soludo, saying it has failed to meet the expectations of Anambra people. “We were excited when Soludo came with the slogan, ‘I will fix it, even if it is not broken.’ But now, it is broken into pieces,” Okonkwo added.

The APC maintains that the growing internal discontent within APGA could shift the political balance in Anambra as the 2025 elections approach.
