Manchester United Consider Three Top Coaches as Potential Amorim Replacements

Manchester United are reportedly considering three top managers as potential replacements for Ruben Amorim, according to Fichajes.net via Football Transfers. The Portuguese coach, who took charge at Old Trafford in November last year following Erik ten Hag’s dismissal, is already facing uncertainty over his future.

Amorim arrived from Sporting CP with hopes of reviving the struggling Red Devils but has struggled to turn their fortunes around. His 3-4-3 formation, initially seen as a solution, has failed to yield results, with United securing only four wins in the Premier League under his leadership. The team currently sits 15th in the league after 25 games, raising fears of possible relegation to the Championship.

Despite still being in the FA Cup and Europa League, United have already been eliminated from the EFL Cup at the quarterfinal stage by Tottenham Hotspur. Spurs’ recent 1-0 victory over United marked their third win against the Red Devils this season, further compounding the pressure on Amorim.

With the club’s hierarchy reportedly losing patience, contingency plans are being made. The report claims that former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane, ex-Chelsea, Tottenham, PSG, and Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino, and former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel are being considered as potential successors.

However, securing any of these high-profile names could be challenging. Zidane is reportedly waiting for the France national team job, which may become available after the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He has also previously expressed reluctance about managing in England.

Pochettino and Tuchel, meanwhile, are currently in charge of the US and England national teams, respectively. Interestingly, United had previously considered Tuchel as an option last summer before deciding to continue with Erik ten Hag. Pochettino was also a candidate for the United job in 2022 before the Dutchman was appointed.
