Man Stabs Security Guard Unconscious for Stopping Him from Having Sex in Security Post
A 33-year-old man, Otobong Enyietim Akpan, has been remanded in prison custody for allegedly stabbing a security guard, Adamu Muhammed, in the neck and head after being denied access to a security post in Lekki, Lagos, where he intended to have sex with his girlfriend.
According to the police, the incident took place on 2 March 2025 at 35B, Land Bridge Avenue, Oniru Estate, Victoria Island. Akpan had reportedly taken his girlfriend to the security post with the intention of engaging in sexual activity. When the guard on duty, Muhammed, refused him access and reminded him that the post was not a hotel, Akpan allegedly became enraged, threatened to kill the guard, and left the scene.
Moments later, Akpan returned with a knife concealed in his trousers and allegedly launched a violent attack on the guard, stabbing him multiple times in the neck and head. Eyewitnesses quickly intervened, restraining the suspect and rushing the injured guard to the hospital.
The Maroko Police Division was alerted, and officers promptly arrested Akpan. He was later charged before the Igbosere Magistrate’s Court, sitting at Tinubu, on one count of causing grievous bodily harm, an offence under Section 245 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.
Police prosecutor Reuben Solomon told the court that the accused carried out the attack after being denied the use of the security post for his personal purpose. Akpan pleaded not guilty, and Magistrate N.S. Wahab granted him bail in the sum of ₦500,000 with two sureties in like sum. However, he was ordered to be remanded at the Ikoyi Correctional Facility until he meets the bail conditions.
The case has been adjourned to 28 March 2025 for mention.
