Man Stabs Friend Over Woman in Abuja

A man identified as Jamilu Dayyabu, 36, allegedly stabbed his friend, Musa Bala, during a dispute over a woman at Tipper Garage, opposite SDP Junction in Gwagwalada Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

According to a resident, Suleiman, the incident occurred on Sunday around 10:12 pm at a viewing centre in the area. He explained that Bala had invited the woman for a discussion, but Dayyabu, upon learning of her whereabouts, traced her to the location.

Dayyabu, who had reportedly been in a relationship with the woman for over a year and claimed to have spent money on her, had earlier visited her house that evening but found her absent. His calls to her went unanswered. Upon discovering that she was with Bala at the viewing centre, he confronted them, leading to a heated altercation.

During the fight, Dayyabu allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed Bala in the neck and abdomen before fleeing the scene. Local vigilantes were alerted but were unable to apprehend him. The woman also fled, while the injured Bala was rushed to a nearby hospital.

A member of the vigilante group, Ibrahim Manu, confirmed the incident, stating that efforts were underway to track down both Dayyabu and the woman.

As of the time of filing this report, the FCT Police Command spokesperson, SP Adeh Josephine, had yet to confirm the incident.
