Man Seeks Divorce after Dreaming that Wife Cheated on Him
In an extraordinary case, a man from Bulawayo has filed for divorce, claiming that recurring dreams of his wife’s infidelity are the cause of their marital breakdown.
Energy Moyo, a resident of the Lobenvale suburb, has been married to Angela Dube for nine years. However, he recently submitted a divorce petition to the Bulawayo Customary Court, citing vivid dreams of his wife cheating as the primary reason for their separation.
Despite having no tangible evidence of infidelity, Moyo is convinced by the recurring dreams, which depict his wife engaging romantically with a neighbor. These dreams, he asserts, have caused him significant emotional distress and led him to doubt Angela’s faithfulness.
In his court application, Moyo stated that the relationship between him and his wife has “irretrievably broken down,” with no hope of reconciliation. He detailed how these troubling dreams began early in their marriage and have persisted, eroding the love, trust, and respect they once shared.
Moyo also claims that discussions with Angela about the dreams have led to verbal and physical abuse, further exacerbating his distress. As a result, he has decided to seek a divorce.
Alongside the divorce, Moyo is requesting custody of their two children and an equal division of their household assets. He hopes for a fair outcome that will best serve the interests of his children.
The Bulawayo Customary Court has yet to hear the case. It remains uncertain how the court will address this unusual request for divorce based on dreams.
