Man Kills Wife and Six Children, Sets Home on Fire Before Taking Own Life
Residents of Akyempim in Ghana’s Central Region are reeling from a horrific tragedy after a man reportedly set his home on fire, killing his wife and six children before ending his own life.
According to reports, the victims included the man’s wife, five of their children aged between one and fifteen, and the family’s eldest daughter. The Ghana National Fire Service indicated that preliminary investigations suggest the man locked the room from the outside before setting it ablaze while the family slept.
A harrowing video from the scene showed residents retrieving the charred remains of the victims as emergency workers assisted in the recovery effort. The sight brought many to tears, with the community struggling to come to terms with the devastating loss.
Hours after the incident, the man was discovered dead in a nearby bush, hanging from a tree. Authorities believe he took his own life shortly after committing the gruesome act.
