Man Dies in Lagos While Undergoing 19-Day Fasting, Police Confirm
A 58-year-old man has died while reportedly undergoing a 19-day dry fasting in the Alagbado area of Lagos State. The tragic incident occurred early Monday morning at around 6 a.m., according to a statement from the Lagos State Police Command.
The Command’s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday. He revealed that the deceased’s younger brother, who reported the death to the Alagbado Police Division at about 7 p.m. on Monday, stated that his brother had been participating in the extended fasting period before his untimely death.
The police have stated that no foul play is suspected in the incident. The family has requested permission to take custody of the body for burial.
