A 43-year-old man identified as Kazeem lost his life in a tragic incident on Friday in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, after allegedly jumping into a domestic well while under the influence of a hard drug known locally as “Colo” (Colorado).
The incident occurred shortly after Kazeem returned from the Eid prayers in the Edun area of the city. According to reliable sources, the shocking event prompted an immediate response from the Kwara State Fire Service, which swiftly recovered his lifeless body from the well.
Confirming the incident in an official statement on Saturday, the spokesperson of the Kwara State Fire Service, Hassan Adekunle, said the service received a distress call at about 10:29 a.m. and dispatched personnel to the scene.
“The Kwara State Fire Service has recovered the lifeless body of a 43-year-old man from a domestic well at Ile Alapo, Edun area of Ilorin,” the statement read.
“Reports indicated that the victim, Kazeem, jumped into the well under the influence of a hard substance shortly after returning from Eid prayers. His body was handed over to Inspector Babatunde Amos of the C Division Police Station, Ilorin, while the Ministry awaits formal identification by the family.”
