Man Caught with Over 30 Stolen Women’s Panties in Alleged Ritual Abuse Scandal
A man from Nemhari, Zimbabwe has stunned his local community after being accused of stealing more than 30 women’s panties for use in alleged sexual rituals, a practice locally referred to as mubobobo.
The suspect, Augustine Marimo, reportedly stole the undergarments from washing lines and communal bathing spaces. His actions came to light during a traditional court session led by Headman Nemhari, where Marimo, his mother Fridah Chiweshe, and several affected women were summoned to appear.
One woman, who chose to remain anonymous, attended the hearing to confirm growing rumours but was shocked to recognise a pair of panties that once belonged to her late sister. She had not noticed the item missing and described the discovery—and its possible use in rituals—as “sickening.”
During the hearing, Marimo did not deny the allegations. Witnesses said he gave a chilling account of how he used the stolen underwear. He reportedly admitted to placing the garments on his bed, masturbating on them, and fantasising about sexual encounters with the women who owned them—none of whom were aware or had consented.
The same woman said her marriage began to fall apart around the time her underwear went missing. She revealed that intimacy with her husband ended abruptly nearly two years ago, and their once-close relationship had since grown cold and distant.
Marimo allegedly told the court that he was acting under the influence of a spiritual voice that instructed him to steal the panties and perform the rituals. He claimed the voice warned him not to reveal its source, threatening punishment if he disobeyed.
