Major Crackdown on Cultists in Lagos: Seven High-Ranking Members Apprehended
The Commissioner of Police for Lagos State, Mr Adegoke Fayoade, has announced the successful arrest of seven high-ranking cultists in the Ikorodu area.
During a briefing with the Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria (CRAN) at the state’s command headquarters on Thursday, Commissioner Fayoade disclosed that the arrests were made within a span of five days, with three suspects apprehended on Tuesday and four on Thursday at various locations in Ikorodu.
Commissioner Fayoade emphasized his commitment to combatting cultism, robbery, and kidnapping, assuring the residents of Lagos State that these issues would be addressed head-on. Seeking the support of CRAN members, he highlighted the crucial role of media practitioners as the “eyes and ears” in gathering feedback and valuable information.
Furthermore, Fayoade expressed his collaboration with the judiciary to ensure that arrested criminals face substantial consequences. He pledged transparency in his operations, asserting that no officer would be shielded for any misconduct. Encouraging public participation, he urged citizens to report any unprofessional conduct by police officers.
Commissioner Fayoade directed Divisional Police Officers to create a conducive environment at their stations for receiving reports and complaints from the public, emphasizing the importance of community engagement in maintaining law and order.
