Mahmood Yakubu: Buhari Seeks Senate Approval for Re-appointment As INEC Chair
President Mohammadu Buhari has requested Senate approval and confirmation of his renomination of Mahmood Yakubu as Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
The President’s request is contained in an executive communication read on the floor of the Senate chamber by the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan on Tuesday.
Buhari had in October announced his decision to renominate Yakubu after the expiration of a five year tenure.
The President urged the upper legislative chamber to give his request which is in line with provisions of the Constitution’s accelerated consideration.
