Let Tinubu Complete His Eight Years Like Buhari — Tompolo Appeals to Northerners

Former militant leader Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, has called on northern political leaders to support President Bola Tinubu’s bid for a second term in office. Speaking in an interview with Arise Television, Tompolo praised Tinubu as a good and experienced leader capable of taking Nigeria to greater heights, and appealed for unity ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Tompolo’s remarks come as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, alongside former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai and other northern politicians, continue efforts to form a coalition aimed at unseating Tinubu and the ruling party. In response, Tompolo urged the North to allow Tinubu to serve eight years, just as former President Muhammadu Buhari, a northerner, completed two terms.

“We’ll do our part, even go beyond our boundaries to the northern part of Nigeria to talk to our brothers so that he will get his second tenure,” Tompolo said. “Tinubu is a good person; he has the experience to bring this country to a higher level.”

He emphasized his commitment to traveling across northern states to personally appeal for support, stressing the need for fairness and national unity. “Buhari spent eight years. We don’t want anybody to cause any problem. Let Tinubu have his eight years too and then we will look for another person. There is no need for anybody to say we have a monopoly of power,” he added.

Tompolo also noted that traditional rulers in Delta State have already thrown their support behind Tinubu’s reelection campaign.
