Lekki tollgate shooting: LCC presents footages before panel of inquiry
It was the turn of the Managing Director, Lekki Concession Company, LCC, Abayomi Omomuwasan, to take the front seat at the ongoing public Commission of Inquiry constituted by the Lagos State Government to unravel the circumstances that led to the Lekki shooting which claimed several lives.
Omomuwasan, who was subpoenaed to appear before the judicial panel on Tuesday presented documents including footages from the surveillance camera mounted on a nearby mast which the panel admitted as exhibits.
His submission was made to the Judicial Panel of Inquiry to probe the Lekki shootings, as well as complaints of human rights abuses against members of the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS.
“I can confirm that inside here is the video footage that our surveillance camera was able to record for the 20th of October,” Omomuwasan said.
According to Anakle CEO, Editi Effiong, who is at the hearing, “LCC is being led in testimony by a member of the LASG legal team. A hard drive has been admitted in evidence as containing the footage from the toll gate.
“LCC is also tendering press releases in which they denied the company was bribing in police to disrupt the protests.”
